Peerless Immortal 3 (Part 1)

Chapter 3 (1/2) - The Inedible

The next morning.

Dozens of newly minted Divine Spirit stage disciples waited inside the Peng Lai palace hall.

They were all notable characters from this generation, and they would become the foundation of Peng Lai in the future. Some might even become heroes known throughout the cultivation world later on. However, in the present they were all still wet behind the ears with excited faces that only the youthful could make.

“Which Golden Core stage senior do you think will lead us this time?” A female disciple with her hair in a snaketail (1) asked softly, “ Xiaoan-shixiong is always the first to know about these things, do you have any ideas?”

Her anticipation was barely hidden, and she wondered aloud, “Could it be Zhou-shixiong? I heard that he recently exited seclusion. Maybe it’s because he broke through a bottleneck and formed his...”

The youthful cultivator she called Xiaoan-shixiong turned around to look at her with a face full of grievances. The air around him was different from the others. He sighed deeply, and snapped, “It’s Li Huanhan-shixiong.”

The female disciple was not even finished saying the words ‘golden core’ before she was stunned into silence.

“Li, Li-shixiong…”

Li Huanhan’s reputation in the Peng Lai sect preceded him. That maniac who cared only for furthering his cultivation, even if he was strong enough to be called the best cultivator below the Nascent Soul stage, only had eyes for his Shizun, Xuan Wei Xianjun. To everyone else, he was aloof and acted as if he was in the presence of an infectious cultivation wastrel.

While she was recovering from the shocking announcement, the giant palace doors in front them opened to reveal the inner hall. Sect master Zhou, Chang Ning Zhenren and Xuan Wei Xianjun were seated on the elevated stage. Beside his master’s snowy white outline was the dark profile of Li Huanhan.

...It’s really Li-shixiong. The disciples that were originally cheerfully chatting away were now deathly silent like they were being choked by an invisible hand. The female disciple before felt the edges of her vision turn black, and she felt like she might faint any moment now.

The sect master seated on the other side placidly looked to the far away disciples and said to Jiang Yinghe, “I’ve gone over all that needs to be said. Let’s let the children leave.”
To Zhou Zhengping’s generation, these cultivators that were not even a hundred years old were truly just children.

Jiang Yinghe nodded slightly and turned to look at his disciple. Li Huanhan was staring at him with indecipherable emotions in his blood-red eyes.

Based on his understanding of Li Huanhan, he thought that the other was somewhat nervous, which is why he patted his disciple on the shoulder and comforted, “No need to think too hard about this task. All who are present know of your harmonious relationship with your sect siblings. The outer layer of the Tai Xu secret realm is not dangerous if you are careful. This master believes in you.”

Jiang Yinghe’s tone was distant and chilly, but it thawed slightly when speaking to Li Huanhan. There was no sound array present in the inner palace, so the waiting disciples received the phrase ‘harmonious relationship’ with complicated expressions.

They didn’t know if they should spit blood at the thought of Li-shixiong’s ‘harmonious relationship’ with them or be jealous that he could receive this kind of unique treatment from Xuan Wei Xianjun.

Li Huanhan looked down at the fingers resting on his shoulder. They were long and thin with the pure sheen of frost. That subtle and cold fragrance seemed to be everywhere.

It’s the scent of Jiang Yinghe’s spiritual breath (2).

Li Huanhan lifted his hand to cover the one on his shoulder, cradling those fingers in his palm. He stared momentarily at the ground before answering, “This disciple will do his best.”

Jiang Yinghe nodded until he heard the sentence that followed.

“After all, in more than a millenium...I’m the only disciple Shizun has accepted.”

This was the truth, so Jiang Yinghe was about to voice his agreement until he noticed that the ‘Han’ progress bar suddenly advanced a huge chunk. There was still a bit more to go until the next milestone. The ‘A Jiang Shizun System’ immediately informed him:

[You have encountered a key term: {only}]

Jiang Yinghe paused to take that information in for a second before replying, “Yes, you are this master’s only disciple.”

The progress bar jumped to 70 percent. But this increase raised Jiang Yinghe’s suspicions about what exactly this display was measuring for the first time:

...My disciple is only at the Golden Core stage, but this progress bar is shooting up like it’s strapped to a rocket. Isn’t this a bit too...fast?

Translator Notes:
(1) 灵蛇髻 - lit. Spirit snake hair...it's apparently a ponytail but ancient China style? Google has images
(2) 本身道体的气息 - something like 'his spiritual body's breath'

Okay so I finally realized that the authior is going back to edit their chapters later and that they update daily and not in chunks like I thought. I'll try and update once every three days for a while. As mentioned in the previous post, chapters will be split in two starting now. Someone special appears in the second half on Wednesday!

  1. It looks like the progress bar is JYH's disciple affection toward his master rather than his progress in cultivation...

  2. it really is the affection meter lmao. hooray for oblivious shizuns! also, im highly hyped for when the second disciple gets taken in. imagine the riot li-shixiong would raise (ノ´ヮ´)ノ*:・゚✧ a lil quarrel over here, a lil fight over there, just three cats scrambling for shizun's affection everywhere!

huanhan would probably claim seniority, the third disciple selling meng anyways, and the middle child pulling some strings. sincerely waiting for an outsider perspective far into the story. thank you for translating! <3

Today, the Foolish Scum Gong Screwed Me Over Again 1

Chapter 1 "Qiu Yanzhi?" Liu Cheng chuckled as he swirled his flute of champagne. "His appearance might be appealing, but he’s a real bitch." "What makes you say that?" A man came up and asked curiously. "The legitimate little master of the Qiu family was willing to throw away not only his dignity, but also his life over a man.” Liu Cheng folded his long legs and leaned back in his chair. "Do you know what’s even more pathetic? That man doesn't even like him back." "How do you know?" "I saw it with my own eyes." The first time Liu Cheng met Qiu Yanzhi was at a birthday celebration. Liu Cheng went with his ‘boyfriend’ at the time, but as soon as he entered the villa, his attention was captured by Qiu Yanzhi, the most eye-catching person in the crowd. It wasn’t a formal occasion. There were all sorts of people present in the smoke-clogged room. There were many people on the sofa, including a va

Chapter 1 - A Rare Warmth Jiang Yinghe rested on the elevated platform listening to the disciple in front of him carry on with his pleasantries that contained a trace of conceit. He slowly massaged his hand, brushing over his fingertips. But his gaze was not affected at all by the other’s words. This person was supposedly a diamond in the rough, a true son of heaven that came only once in a lifetime. His Zhangmen-shixiong (1) beside him was quite pleased with the young man, and quietly said to him, “Xuan Wei (2) , why don’t you go with this one?” After hearing those words, Jiang Yinghe swept his eyes past the area below. He made no sound of agreement.  The youth lost his polite yet arrogant air immediately once he saw that Jiang Yinghe was unimpressed. He paled, and quickly left to lick his wounds elsewhere. The other candidates behind him, however, beamed in anticipation and stepped forward eagerly to replace him. It’s not that Jiang Yinghe doesn’t want to take o

Chapter 2 - A Keepsake for Shizun Under the thundering sky, a neverending torrent of rain was currently being unleashed on the cliffside where Jiang Yinghe stood silently.  Despite the stormy weather around him, his snow white cloak remained untouched by the elements, with not even a raindrop able to approach him. He gazed towards the impermeable clouds that surrounded the upper layers of the Typhoon Blade Cliffs (1) . His disciple was still inside… This kind of place was meant for cultivators far beyond his level. Even if he is a genius that surpasses the heavens, there’s nothing he can possibly do when faced with such an insurmountable degree of difficulty. After all, he only entered the sect two years ago… These two years were not easy for him. Li Huanhan had both his identity and qualifications scrutinized by not only the members of the Peng Lai Immortal Sect, but the entire cultivation world. Li Yue Zhenren (2) even came personally to inquire about this matter. Sh
